MedExel’s Safety Pen Needle Selected as Next Generation World-Class Product
[By Raportian] On the 9th, MedExel Co., Ltd. (CEO: Cha Dong-ik), a leading manufacturer of diabetes consumables, announced that its “Safety Pen Needle” has been selected as a Next Generation World-Class Product by the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy (MOTIE).
The World-Class Product certification, organized by KOTRA and hosted by MOTIE, identifies and supports products that rank within the top 5 globally in market share and have at least 5% market share, as well as products that have a high potential to enter the top 5 in global market share within the next seven years.
The Safety Pen Needle was selected as a Next Generation World-Class Product for its ability to prevent reuse by self-injecting patients and reduce the risk of secondary infections caused by needle-stick injuries among healthcare providers.
According to MedExel, the global market for conventional pen needles is valued at approximately KRW 1.5 trillion, while the market for safety pen needles is less than 5% of that, indicating significant growth potential.
Park Won-gwi, MedExel’s Director of R&D, noted, “The global distribution of safety pen needles will help reduce the pain and unnecessary costs experienced by healthcare providers due to secondary infections.”
